A Participative Webinar with Hugh Pidgeon
December 17, 2021 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm GMT
Our interaction with Hugh over the past months has encouraged Linda and I to schedule a second event with him. We envision it as a conversation among the three of us, rather than our typical interview format. The topic will move away from talking about dialogue as a noun, to dialogue as an orientation to life, thus, the title, “Dialogue as Lived.”
We plan to start with the three of us in conversation followed by a short interval to give everyone an opportunity to reflect in small groups on the conversation so far. When we come back together we would like to continue the conversation as a full group rather than our typical Q&A. As stimulus to our conversation together, Hugh has written a piece especially for this event about his own life experiences that have lead to him thinking of dialogue less as a set of skills, and more directly towards what David Bohm might have meant by attending to the “totality of things” and Martin Buber by “the unity of life.” Please take time to read this very thought provoking account well ahead of our meeting if you possibly can.
Hugh has his own dialogue consultancy practice, Collective Intelligence, in the field of strategic thinking and conflict resolution and has had a long-term interest in the supportive conditions for ecologically sustainable development faced with increasing tribal affiliations and corporate and personal self-interest.
Your cohosts Nancy Dixon and Linda Ellinor look forward to exploring the meaning of “dialogue as lived” during our conversation with Hugh and with all of you who will be on online with us.
