Generative Dialogue on Peacebuilding

February 10 @ 4:00 pm 5:30 pm GMT

Led by Mino Akhtar and Maja Nenadovic

Dialogue theme: Overcoming Polarization Between Groups

We are honored to hear from Trina Talukdar and Nancy Dixon about peace-building projects they are conducting in India and USA followed by open dialogue by all. They are both seeking to overcome polarization between groups in their countries by bringing together in dialogue individuals with differing opinions and views. If you are concerned by polarization you witness in your own community, are engaging in dialogues with individuals espousing views different than your own or looking to organize dialogue sessions among diverse groups – we hope this Peacebuilding Generative Dialogue session will inspire you!

Trina Talukdar envisions a
world where society is
being developed by the
most unlikely leaders from
unlikely places. Through Bolti
Bandh, a collective of
dialogue enthusiasts
committed to listening to
the other side, Trina
promotes listening to those
with opposing beliefs to
ours, by mentoring
community leaders, in a bid
to de-polarise our society.

Nancy Dixon, Ph.D. is a facilitator with the Better Angels Central Texas and the president of the US Academy of Professional Dialogue. She facilitates Red/Blue workshops which bring together individuals from both sides of the US political divide, to explore commonalities as well as differences. Braver Angels seeks to depolarize American politics through grassroots organizing.

About the Generative Dialogue Series on Peacebuilding

This series aims to create a learning community for peacebuilders around the globe, as we explore together and amplify our own efforts on the ground. Peacebuilding is essential in everyday lives where conflicts emerge, and transform through our interactions and way of being.

‘Peacebuilding’ comes to mind as a concept most often associated with war and post-conflict reconciliation efforts. Many members of the Academy of Professional Dialogue work in (post-) conflict contexts, using Dialogue to bridge polarization. Dialogue is used as a space for listening to diverse perspectives and creating a shared understanding of our past, present, and future. Dialogue can help bridge the divides between different ideologies, viewpoints, perspectives, politics.

The sessions in 2022 will take place on monthly basis, every 2nd Thursday of the month, lasting 90 minutes, always at the same time: 11AM-12:30PM EST, 4-5:30PM GMT, 5-6:30PM CET. Academy members and guests are welcome to join!
