A Participative Webinar with Lauren Barthold

Lauren is a PhD Philosopher, who teaches philosophy at Emerson College. She is also a researcher and author of several books, including her latest book. She has worked with a number of dialogue processes including Reflective Structured Dialogue (Essential Partners) and Intergroup Dialogue (Michigan State). At Healthmere, where she is a program developer, she engages marginalized youth in dialogue and the arts. She has studied how implicit bias negatively impacts our ability to engage civilly with each other across lines and how by placing dialogue before deliberation, it is possible to build the necessary relational bonds and shared understandings that can then lead to more effective political conversations.

A Participative Webinar

During the webinar the cohosts, Nancy Dixon and Linda Ellinor, interviewed Lauren to provide an overview of her thinking. They then moved participants into small groups for reflection on Lauren’s interview and how her experience has meaning in our lives and work with dialogue. To close, they came back together with questions and reflections from the small groups.
